AAA Says National Gas Price Average Sees No Change Since January 1

AAA reported Monday that despite geopolitical concerns with Iran last week, gas prices on average remained steady at $2.58 per gallon which is two cents more than last month and 34-cents more expensive than the beginning of 2019.

For California, they saw an average of 1 cent drop at $3.53 per gallon which is the second most per gallon of gas in the United States behind Hawaii at 3.65 per gallon.  AAA said an increased gaslone stock help pull gas prices down in the region. The current supply level is nearly 2 million bbl higher than last year’s level at this time, which will likely continue to help prices in the region decline throughout the week.

In Contra Costa, gas in the City of Antioch is listed around $3.09 (Arco on Hillcrest) while Brentwood (Arco on Lone Tree) also is listed at $3.09 per gallon. Concord has gas listed for around $3.12 a gallon.

“A healthy and growing level of domestic gasoline stocks alongside decreasing demand are two factors helping to minimize gas price fluctuations,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “In the last week, about 32 states saw pump prices push less expensive by just a penny or two or saw no change at all.”
