Here is a little interesting tidbit I wanted to pass along from Lisa Vorderbrueggen of the Contra Costa Times who is reporting 18-people have applied for the have applied for the $149,851-a-year Contra Costa County clerk-recorder post set to open when incumbent Steve Weir retires in March.

The Board of Supervisors will interview the applicants on Feb. 5 with a decision either that day or on Feb. 12.  The candidate will serve the remainder of Wier’s four-year term. After that, the position is up for grabs in the 2014 election cycle.

Here is a partial list of the applicants:

  • Joe Canciamilla: former Contra Costa Supervisor and Assemblyman.
  • Jack Weir: Brother of Steve Wier and Pleasant Hill city councilman.
  • Cheryl Sudduth of El Sobrante, the director of contracts and compliance for Goodwill Industries of Oakland for the past decade. Sudduth also ran as a Democrat against incumbent Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, in the 2012 primary.
  • Yolanda Manullang of Richmond, whose most recent job was a six-month stint as an administrative assistant for Liberty Tax Service.
  • Skyler Maxwell of Pittsburg, a former Tri Delta Transit bus operator.
  • Stephen Murphy of Pleasant Hill, a UC Berkeley basketball statistician and real estate agent
  • Robert Sayavong of Richmond, a seasonal data entry person for Alameda County election department.

According to Vorderbrueggen, five applicants live outside the county and are ineligible while several failed to complete the supplementary questionnaire.

Word has it that Canciamilla is a slam dunk for this position. He is more than qualified…the others, not so much

The closest competition is Jack Weir, however he is strongly affiliated with the CCTPA (tax payers club). Yep, the same one that promotes Kris Hunt, Wendy Lack and the rest of the bozos.

This position calls for a dynamic indivdual- not a limited thinker.

Good bye Steve, you will be missed.
