The California Highway Patrol responded to a head-on vehicle crash on Highway 160 between the Antioch bridge and Sherman Island Sunday night.
As ground resources arrived at the scene it was determined that one of the occupants was deceased and there were at least two young children who were critically injured. H-32 transported one of the children to Children’s Hospital in Oakland while the other was transported by REACH to UC Davis.
It is being reported Monday that its believed the driver may have been driving at a high rate of speed and was intoxicated.
The driver who died at the scene is being identified as a 38-year-old San Ramon man who was not wearing a seatbelt. Two children were ages 6 and 4 and not wearing seatbelts had major injuries. a 15-year-old front passenger may been wearing a seat belt. All three children were hospitalized.
Another driver, a 71-year-old woman from Rio Vista was also hospitalized with major injuries.
CHP reported Monday afternoon that since 6 p.m. Friday, 15 people have been killed in CHP’s jurisdiction, and officers have made 891 DUI arrests.

Obviously, someone was passing where that should not happen. It’s something I see every time I drive 160. Always some ******* trying pass. A tragic ending to a decision that should never have been made. Sooner or later, 160 will get a divider, like 37, to protect us all from this nonsense
