Saturday morning, the East Contra Costa County skies were filled with a layer of smoke leaving many to wonder what was on fire and where was it coming from.
There is no fire in East Contra Costa County and the smoke is actually coming from Lake County fires. There is no need to call 9-1-1 unless you see an actual fire burning.
The smoke has also been reported as far south as Pleasanton which led Pleasanton Police to issue the following notice:
Drift smoke from wild-land fires burning in N. Ca is being reported in the Pleasanton area, unless you see flames, billowing smoke or feel the smoke may be from a new fire, no need to call emergency services. Cal-fire has a helicopter patrolling the area just to make sure.
Again, unless you see flames, do not call 9-1-1.
