SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier, D-Discovery Bay, issued the following statement on the State Water Resources Control Board’s ruling to dismiss motions seeking to halt hearings into the proposed Delta tunnels, which have undergone significant design changes.

“This ruling is absurd given the facts. The State Water Resources Control Board is continuing with the hearings as if the original twin-tunnels plan has undergone no alterations, when in fact significant alterations have been made. It is disappointing the Board is failing its responsibility to represent all of California. The Board should stay the hearings and require the Department of Water Resources and the Bureau of Reclamation to submit a change petition that properly addresses the dramatic deviations from the previous WaterFix plan. The phased-in two-tunnel design DWR is now proposing will have a dual impact. It is now two construction projects, not just one. It doubles the devastating impact constructing the tunnels will have on the Delta region.”

  3. We, the voters of California already voted for more water storage. Why these clowns in Sacramento choose to make it a political is BS. We don’t want tunnels, are you listening? We don’t want tunnels. Unless you can, never mind. Put your train in the tunnel and be the passenger’s. Get it??? No tunnels, no train!!!
