Between 7:30 to 10:00 pm Tuesday, all of East Contra Costa Fire resources were in Antioch assisting Contra Costa County Fire fighting a three-alarm vegetation fire which was threatening homes.

During that time, the area serviced by the District briefly had no coverage until resources were pulled from Tracy Fire to cover a medical call in Discovery Bay while CALFIRE covered Brentwood and Oakely.

According to ECCFPD Fire Chief Hugh Henderson, a total of four calls were handled and all district resources were back into the District by 10:00 pm.

In just a few months this will be the norm since we will only have three stations and a total of 9 firefighters to help our whole district. We have been lucky in the past since nothing life threatening has happened when all our stations have been on calls. But like taking any other kind of risk (which we are) we are going to have a tragedy on our hands some day.
