For those of you interested in attending, Contra Costa County Supervisor Mary Piepho will be presenting the 2012 Chair of the Board Award to the Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed on Tuesday at 9:00 am at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
No doubt the Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed have had a productive year thanks to executive director Diane Burgis, the Board of Directors and the many volunteers throughout the year. This is actually pretty neat that they receive another award as Oakley honored them a few months back as did Joan Buchanan last year. This is just more proof this group is doing things correctly and its being noticed from all levels.
From a selfish stand point as a resident, having a water expert (Diane Burgis) on the council is a wonderful thing and hopefully her committee assignments reflect her expertise because it could do some real good for not just Oakley, but for Antioch, Brentwood, Bethel Island and Discovery Bay–oh heck, the region!
The meeting will be held at 9:00 on Tuesday at 651 Pine Street, 1st floor Board Chambers in Martinez
