I am pleased to report that Black Bear Diner in Oakley raised just over $2,700 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation during the month long fundraiser in December.  The entire Black Bear Diner family raised over $160,809.

Over the month of December, $1 from every dessert ordered went towards Make-A-Wish Foundation.  In addition, they also held a raffle for homemade afgans of local sports teams. Stars were purchased for $1 & $5 where e ticket could be dropped in a box for a drawing to win afgans. on Dec. 31, 2012.

Brenda D’Amico came up with the idea for the afgan because she wanted to do something more than just donate from proceeds. The sports teams include the San Francisco Giants and 49ers along with the Oakland A’s and Raiders.

I was trying to think of something we could do to raise a little more money for Make-A-Wish. Since I make afghans all the time, I thought if I made our local sports teams, people may be tempted to donate a little more,” said D’Amico.

To visit  Black Bear Diner, they are located at 3201 Main Street  Oakley, CA 94561.
