Rio Vista, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) presented a California State Assembly Resolution to the family of California Highway Patrol Officer, Charles “Chuck” Sorenson at a memorial highway dedication ceremony on Friday, March 15, 2013,  at the Rio Vista City Council Chambers.

In recognition of Officer Sorenson’s heroic devotion and sacrifice, the California State Assembly passed Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 100 which designates the portion of Highway 12, between State Route 16 and Brannan Island Road, as the “Officer Charles ‘Chuck’ Sorenson Memorial Highway.”

Officer Sorenson (1930-1963) was a devoted husband, father, coworker and friend who accomplished a long list of successes in his lifetime; he graduated from California State University of Sacramento in 1957, served his country in the United States Navy from 1950-1954, and graduated from the California Highway Patrol Academy in 1957 where he honorably served in the CHP for six years before tragically losing his life in the line of duty.

“It is an honor and a privilege to pay tribute to Officer Sorenson for his selfless dedication to preserving the public’s safety,” said Assemblymember Frazier.

The memorial highway dedication is being hosted by the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento Area.
