Senator DeSaulnier Statement on Health Exchange Call Center

by ECT

Mark DeSaulnier

Senator Mark DeSaulnier put out the following statement after the four and a half hour marathon Board of Supervisor meeting that ensured 200+ jobs will come to Contra Costa County in the form of a state health exchange call center. The call center was approved last night in a 3-2 vote which places the call center in Concord.

Supervisors Gioia and Andersen voted against the plan for different reasons. Andersen did not like the deal while Gioia thought a call center would be better placed in Richmond.

Here is the Senators statement on the call center jobs staying in Contra Costa County:

“I am pleased that an agreement was reached to keep the health exchange call center in Contra Costa County. I know that the state can work with the county to provide high quality services, while properly managing costs. Partnerships between the state and county are important for an effective roll-out and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Strengthening this partnership and saving jobs at the call center is not just good for Contra Costa County it is good for the state of California. ”
