At 5:20 pm Tuesday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a head-on-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4 just west of Bailey involving a big rig tanker truck.
According to CHP, this was a wrong way driver who tried to turn and was hit head on by the big rig. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.

AMR was the first unit on scene and stated they had 1 possible patient and that the big rig tanks were empty after carrying wastewater.
CHP has issued a SIGALERT at 5:31 pm as 3-4 lanes were blocked and emergency vehicles were on scene.
According to radio traffic at 5:40 pm, the driver of the vehicle who fled was caught and transported to the Pittsburg Police Department where medical personnel were responding.
