At roughly 12:39 pm, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews responded to Buchanan Field to assist airport personnel with uprighting an airplane which flipped over on a taxiway.
Upon arrival, crews spotted the plane on its roof but reported no injuries and they turned the case over to the Contra Costa Sheriffs Office.
The pilot was reportedly doing a speed test in a World War 1 replica airplane when the plane flipped and he was able to walk away. The pilot refused medical treatment. The plane was heavily damaged and crews cleaned up a small spill. The pilot was not identified and the plane was never meant for flight at that time.
