Walnut Creek DMV To Permanently Close

by ECT

For those California Department of Motor Vehicles customers who utilize the Walnut Creek field office located at 1910 North Broadway, that location will officially close as of 5:00 pm on November 13.

According to DMV, the office’s lease is expiring and is not being renewed. A replacement office will open at 8 a.m. November 23 at 2621 Stoneridge Mall Road, Unit G225B, in Pleasanton.

“We have recently made many alternatives available for our customers,” DMV Director Steve Gordon said. “Most DMV transactions can now be completed without visiting a field office by using our expanded online services, kiosks, business partners or mail.”

The office inside Stoneridge Mall originally opened in July to assist customers while the Pleasanton field office at 6300 West Las Positas Blvd. underwent renovations that included replacing the roof, furniture and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The revamped Pleasanton office will reopen at 8 a.m. November 16.

Customers in the Walnut Creek area can visit the following nearby field offices:

  • Concord, 2070 Diamond Blvd.
  • Pittsburg, 1399 Buchanan Road
  • Pleasanton, 6300 West Las Positas Blvd.
  • Tracy, 2785 Auto Plaza Dr

The DMV continues to recommend that customers use its online services, expanded virtual services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

DMV announced the closure on Oct. 29.
