Video: Brentwood Police Arrest Driver Sunday Morning on Suspicion of DUI

by ECT

At 5:30 am Sunday, the Brentwood Police Department and East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle versus pole at Sand Creek Road and O’Hara Avenue in the City of Brentwood.

Upon arrival, police located two occupants of the vehicle with the female passenger sustaining a head injury after striking the windshield.  Firefighters and AMR provided patient care on scene before she was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The male driver, who appeared uninjured believing he was still in the City of Emeryville,  was given a field sobriety check where his blood-alcohol level was more than double the legal limit. He was arrested on felony DUI charges.

Brentwood Police are still investigating the crash.

Did you get the dude permission to film him? I am just wondering because I can see this case being thrown out for violating his rights. I know fuck him, he is a drunk driver I get it. I am only asking because I did 12 years as a DA police officer and seen cases get thrown out for some dumb outsider shit. By you broadcasting his face on the internet, may not be a good thing

To Just Asking, I am glad ECT posted this video and many others like this. People need to see what happens to drunk drivers. The male would be really crying if he killed someone. If you were a DA police officer as you claim, you would know the law that it was in public view, on a public street and a public sidewalk.

In a public place you do not need anyone’s permission to photograph or video.

California recording law stipulates that it is a two-party consent state. In California, it is a criminal offense to use any device to record communications, whether they’re wire, oral or electronic, without the consent of everyone taking part in the communication.

Here ya go, if the subject didn’t consent it is illegal

LOL, using that logic say goodbye to all news and photography. It’s called public view.

Anyone has the right to record police or public officials engaged in performance of their official duties and activities that are visible from public places. If on private property, one is to follow directions of a security guard, police officer or the property owner. This isn’t complicated.

You people sure like to make stuff up without a clue in the world. Video is fine. Focus instead on the driver who decided to drink and drive and how polite brentwood police were in this whole scenario. I applaud them for their behavior on this call. keep up the good work ECT.

The people complaining are the very people who if Brentwood PD stepped out of line would want the video shown everywhere. Hypocrites!!!!! Don’t want to be on a website like this, don’t break the law. Thankfully no one was killed.
