At 5:05 am Sunday, while crews were still on scene of the Bethel Island incident, a blown transformer started a vegetation fire at E Cypress Road and Bethel Island Road in the City of Oakley.

Upon arrival, it was reported the fire quickly grew to 1-acre and was threatening homes in the Summer Lakes neighborhood and Sandmound Blvd. The fire had potential to grow more than 6-acres.

By 5:42 am, the fire district was reporting they were working with the sheriffs office for limited evacuations.

Crews were also working a third incident creating a “complex” at E Cypress Road at Broadway Road near Knightsen Avenue. Crews were providing structure protection after a wood pile broke out in flames.  By 5:50 am, the fire had grown to 10 acres and threatening multiple homes.

A total of six strike teams were requested as the fire had grown to 25-acres with 0% containment.

As of 5:53 am, Steve Aubert, ECCFPD PIO, confirmed they have requested that limited evacuations have been ordered for Summer Lakes neighborhood and Sandmound.

The city of Oakley and Oakley Police announced the Oakley Recreation Center has been opened on O’Hara Avenue for evacuees.

By 8:33 am, the fire district lifted the evacuation orders.
