This is what happens when you get a gathering of low-budget individuals .. it always becomes a recipe for disaster.

Yes Sick! They come in swarms! I bet the neighbors of those homeowners on Lucille Way are totally delighted about this incident. Did you catch the gang names of the party goers . . . The BART station is a half mile away with a direct connection to OAKLAND! Enough said.

According to the race rules ,when an african does a shooting ,it’s not considered a mass shooting . Just ask Chicago .

Well…just like Pleasanton cancelled 4 of July fireworks because “diversity” started shooting everyone up, im sure Orinda will cancel everything to do with parties on Halloween too.
Thanks alot Black People.

Blacks ruin everything Nov 2, 2019 - 4:08 pm

I know right…dont they have “mansions” in the ghetto for these parties?

Lucy Lieu Nov 2, 2019 - 5:26 pm

..and this place on Lucille Way is no “mansion.” It’s just a 4 bedrrom, 2-1/2 bath house. Who came up with the term “mansion?”

Samantha Nov 1, 2019 - 4:11 pm

Looks like facts offend you!

Jen Nov 1, 2019 - 1:30 pm

I’ve never been a fan of the airbnb industry. The idea of having strangers inhabit your house or your neighborhood is not that comforting.

Grace Wilson Nov 1, 2019 - 3:40 pm

Did the owners of this house know that over 100 people would be there for a Halloween party? Were they aware that flyers were distributed all over Oakland announcing this event?

Terry Wilde Nov 2, 2019 - 12:16 am

According to a neighbor, the home owner never lived there and the house was always empty. Seems he only bought it to rent it out short term through airbnb and the neighbors were upset by this. He was reported to the City many times and was warned to stop doing that and fined.

Elizabeth Nov 2, 2019 - 11:32 pm

The owner lives in Concord.

Richard Nov 1, 2019 - 4:01 pm

I guess the shooter went inside the house and shot the place up. The guy had a MAC10, for Christ’s sake. The owners must be delighted. The will have a great time pulling the bullets out of the walls and furniture. Don’t they check out the people who are renting the place? Do they just let anyone in? Are they that stupid? This is a danger to the neighborhood.

Chloe B Nov 1, 2019 - 4:31 pm

This airbnb industry puzzles me. Why in hell would I want total strangers to take over my house for a certain amount of time? It this some money thing? If so, then the owner of the property cannot afford it. Best to sell and move to an area with a lower cost of living then have strangers endangering your neighborhood. There were a number of instances where these “guests” totally trashed several houses in San Francisco and then moved on. You’d think people would learn from such lessons.

Jonathan Nov 1, 2019 - 4:46 pm

Imagine 100 plus people crowded into your house raking havoc, going through your cabinets, going through your closets and God-only-knows-what other things they did inside your property. Would you just leave the house and not return or have it FUMIGATED from the stench left behind? The blood from the gunshot wounds?I can imagine their neighbors just waiting for their return! That area has very narrow streets. The trash pickup trucks have problems maneuvering around there. I know it well as I have relatives living on adjoining streets and parking is a big problem. The police blocked that area and residents couldn’t get back to their homes for hours.

Lisa Hamilton Nov 1, 2019 - 5:42 pm

That house must be a total mess now!

Eric Nov 1, 2019 - 6:10 pm

First, I would never let my house on a temporary basis through any airbnb type organization. Second, if I were stupid enough to do that, I’d want to personally see and interview the person and read them the ground rules and find out their intentions. I would also inform my neighbors and ask them to call the police immediately if something funny was going on. I know that area very well and if 100 plus cars or even 50 cars ascended on that very narrow street with horrendous parking problems already, that would be unacceptable. Third, the noise alone should have been a dead giveaway.

RBG Nov 1, 2019 - 6:14 pm

The leaders of all mass shootings Are white people so I don’t know why y’all mad you create all of the chaos that’s going on in this world and y’all wanna point the finger ?????

Lauren Nov 1, 2019 - 10:52 pm

So? All mass shooters are white men? Let’s see here. Was it a white man who shot 49 people in 2016 in the PULSE bar in Orlando, FL?  Omar Mateen, the shooter was NOT white!   How about the two persons who shot dead 14 people in San Bernardino during a Christmas party in 2015? The killers were Syad Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik..  hardly white folks.  Then we have 32 shot dead at Virginia Tech in 2007 by Seung Hui Cho, most definitely not a white man. Shall I go on?

Lori Raider Nov 4, 2019 - 12:59 am

Well said. I hope that shut RBG up! Then there’s that black guy who confessed to shooting over 80 people. Forgot his name but they showed him on TV

Maureen Nov 2, 2019 - 4:02 pm

I could give you a list of non-white people who did some mass shootings. Care to view it?

Robert C Nov 1, 2019 - 7:24 pm

It’s hard to apportion the massive stupidity here because there’s so much of it on display: the property owner, the “tenant” who sponsored the party, the attendees and, of course, the shooter(s). And let’s not forget Airbnb – the great enabler.

Barbara Evans Nov 1, 2019 - 9:50 pm

I have an elderly aunt who lives in Moraga who told me she would sign up with airbnb to rent out her house a couple of days per month. I got furious! She was doing splendidly financially. Why let strangers into your own house? After researching the situation, I showed her what could happen and she withdrew from this project. I was relieved! No matter how much you vet them, you never know what or who will get into your house and what they will do.

Allen Welles Nov 2, 2019 - 2:38 pm

I just never understood why anyone would even considering such a thing in the first place. Same as with letting some stranger take you in their car and drive you somewhere. You know no idea who they are! That’s what cabs are for.

James Nov 1, 2019 - 7:44 pm

That house must be a total mess inside! Imagine 100 people trying to get out knocking over everything in site. Breaking things. Total pandemonium! That area could have been easily blocked off so no one could get out or get in after the first police call.

MEV Nov 2, 2019 - 2:26 pm

R.I.P. to the 5 victims. Go to what you think will be a fun event and someone with a MAC10 or whatever its called does that. Why?

Erica Nov 3, 2019 - 10:39 pm

Yes, MEV — Apparently, he used a MAC-10 ..

MAC-10, Military Armament Corporation Model 10, a compact, blowback operated machine pistol.
Rate of fire: 1,250 rounds/min. (9mm), 1,090 rounds/min, (.45 ACP*), 1,380 rounds/min. (.380 ACP*)
Action: Straight blowback

*ACP = Automatic Colt Pistol

MV Nov 4, 2019 - 11:44 am

Your rate of fire calculations are for a Machine Gun, an Automatic Firearm does not mean Machine gun. Nearly ALL firearms with a magazine can be modified to be illegally modified into a Machine Gun. This does not mean he acquired it or purchased it that way. Criminals will be criminals and will obtain and modify weapons as they please with full disregard to the law. Automatic Firearm means the next round is AUTOMATICALLY chambered. There are countless millions of MAC 10 and MAC 11 firearms which were manufactured in Semi-Automatic for civilians vs Fully Automatics for the military. (Well some were purchased legally by civilians as well if manufactured prior to the NFA, however these models are rarely if ever used in crime as they are extremely costly to obtain).

D Lange Nov 2, 2019 - 3:35 pm

I stay at Airbnb’s a lot. Never had a problem. Great property and gracious hosts. Due diligence at who ur renting to. Is anyone REALLY surprised? Given the locations of where the guests came from. Hmm… doesn’t take a genius.
