No vote for anyone who hails from the Antioch school board or follow in the footsteps of Harper. Unlike most you dumb voters, I don’t suffer from white guilt.
That means no Lamar Thorpe.
We need a complete change on our city council.
I completely agree!!!
I would like the people who are running to at least have gone to a few council meeting and been part of the process. Two of the Antioch ladies have had little to no contact at a council meeting
Neither has Lamar Thorpe.
I do not know the requirements needed before anyone can run for any office but as a voter/resident of East County I feel any candidate MUST meet certain criteria first. A problem arises when any Tom, Dick or Harry with absolutely no knowledge/experience in job requirements decides they want to run. That’s exactly how we get the current idiots.
here are the “requirements”

I highly recommend Sandy McGee and Lori Ogorchock! Both are from Old Time Antioch and actually KNOW what is best to get our town back to what it once was!!!
I believe I know Mr. Thorpe and he is at most council meetings and Police Commission meetings.
How come most but not all incumbents are marked? Can we also know if any of these people hold a different elected office?
Thanks much
hello chuck,
i am running for city council, antioch, nov. 2014. retired, i am not holding any office, never have, have no connection to any groups, builders, investors, unions, churches, police/ fire you name it,
i have not, and will not take a cent from anybody, incl. private people.
Karl, being that you are running for a council seat, I would start working on your punctuation and grammar. I am sure Antioch residents would appreciate someone halfway educated.
thanks for your post.
as a first generation immigrant, and english as a second language, i am NOT ashamed about my “punctuation and grammar” mistakes. some of my mistakes are actually funny. (i think)
but i can tell you, that i am not gonna take any classes to “better my punctuation and grammar” in order to become a well spoken, approved by you, not doing anything antioch politician.
i wonder what happens to my answer post to you?
Chuck, Tony is an appointee so cannot use the designation incumbent. It won’t work for him anyway he has earned no respect while on council. A puff piece.
I didn’t know an appointee for the balance of a term is not considered incumbent. Thanks for clarifying that.
The term “appointed incumbent” must be used on the ballot but not on the
campaign statements.
a. According to state election law, the appointed Supervisor must use the words
“appointed incumbent” on the ballot.
b. This requirement does not apply to the candidate statement or election literature that
is available to voters to learn about the candidates. For example: one Supervisor,
appointed in 2000, who first campaigned for election in 2002, was able to describe
herself on her candidate statement as a “San Mateo County Supervisor,” whereas on
the ballot she was mandated, under state law, to use the term “appointed incumbent.”
After research, it would be proper to list him as “appointed incumbent”. The ultimate decision would be the author of this political article.
I can recommend Lori Ogorchock. She knows what Antioch used to be, and has a plan to get it back to what it can be again. She is fiscally stringent, and I have worked with her in terms of an organization’s finances, and she demands accountability. She will not be afraid to stand up for what needs to be done!
Chuck, please talk to City Clerk Simonsen about that. He is the rules person in an election. Thanks for the info.
