Train Strikes Semi-Truck Near Orwood Resort, No Injuries Reported

At 9:15 am Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a truck versus train in the 4600 block of Orwood Road in rural Brentwood.

Upon arrival, it was reported that a semi-truck had been hit by a train, however, the driver had no injuries. It was at that point, it was relayed to firefighters that the county was at Level 0 for ambulances available. Mutual aid ambulances with medical were requested as a precaution.

With crews on scene, they checked for patients and determined just three people needed treatment, however, they sustained only minor injuries and no one needed to be transported.

CHP and Contra Costa County Sheriff, along with AMR responded to the scene. Oil was determined to be leaking into the delta waterways which prompted a response from County HAZMAT and the Coast Guard.

No other information was available on scene.

Orwood: At 9:15 ECCFPD units were dispatched to an Amtrak vs. a semi truck on Orwood Road. No injuries are reported as of yet but oil is leaking into the delta waterways. Please avoid the area.

This time they “checked for patients”, so they were considered patients before they were even known to exist.
