Here is a local example of what firefighters deal with on scene as three were injured by another car passing by the incident and failed to stop because of excessive rain. ABC 7 News has a 2-minute story with video on scene as three of the four victims needed emergency surgery. A bit of advice when you are approaching fire engine and ambulance on a scene, slow down way in advance!

What do people not understand about a big red engine on scene? It means slow down!
The driver who hit them should be cited for driving at an unsafe speed for the conditions. In Lawsuits to follow from all 4 victims, especially the one that is critical. Slow down people!
Lets face it, common sense is gone. People do not drive beyond the front of hood of their car. Slow down-never. I was listening to the scanner yesterday morning and the Antioch
creek was flooding as usual. 10th St around L St up to O St and 4th were flooded. The number of people that drove around the barricades and stalled out was amazing. Then they were calling 911 for assistance. The response should have been “just sit still. The water will go down in a couple of hours!” But no, can’t do that. I know PD officers that bounced lit flares off of cars while directing traffic. People would just keep going, right through the accident scene. Best wishes to all 3 FF and hope you get well soon.

There are those still suggesting that the answer to the budget deficit is to have the fire department respond only to fires and leave medical responses to AMR or another private vendor. The same poorly analyzed idea was proposed for East County.
Now visualize that accident with a single AMR unit on scene.
Who rescues the AMR people who are now on the ground? Remember, there are only 2 of them who respond to a call.
By the way, one of the stations on the chopping block today is Clayton. Which is the closest backup station for the Morgan Territories. So the action taken has an impact on East County.
People are going to start seeing the consequences of the vote play out before their eyes.
