Three Contra Costa Firefighters Injured While Providing Care at Vehicle Crash on Highway 4

At 6:11 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4 at San Marcos when three firefighters were injured while providing care.

The injuries occurred after a vehicle crashed into the scene which Contra Costa fire was on prompting a second vehicle crash at 6:36 pm injuring the crew from Station 86 in Bay Point.

According to battalion Chief Bob Atlas, while providing emergency medical care to a victim of a vehicle crash, all sustained minor injuries and have been treated an released from the hospital.

“The freeway is a very dangerous place and we ask that drivers pay attention while traveling on roads of all kinds.  Our firefighters provide the highest level of professional service and appreciate your attention,” said Atlas.
