Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today was selected to serve as the senior Democrat on the Committee on Intelligence’s Subcommittee on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This newly established subcommittee is responsible for the oversight, policy, activities, and budget of the CIA.
“I am honored to lead this critical subcommittee and work with my colleagues to ensure the CIA has the resources needed to protect the American people,” said Swalwell. “The men and women of the CIA are central in our fight against terrorism, putting their lives at risk every day to keep our country safe. I look forward to working with them in this new role so we may continue to protect the homeland and America’s interests abroad.”
In the last Congress, Swalwell served on the Homeland Security Committee, where he led a successful effort opposing a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) proposal to allow certain knives onboard airplanes and advocated for enhancing the security of airport perimeters with innovative technological solutions.
