Suspect Wanted in Connection with Shooting of 8-year-old Boy Apparently Shot by Fairfield Police

The 32-year-old man wanted in connection with the March 25 shooting of an 8-year-old Concord boy has apparently been shot today by the Fairfield Police.

Concord Police confirmed the suspect, James Jarrad, was taken into custody via social media:

“Today, the Fairfield Police Department took James Jarrard into custody. The details regarding his capture are still developing. The Concord Police Department would like to thank everyone for all the tips and information we have received over the last few days.”

The boy who was shot on March 25 in Concord is expected to survive.

According to Fairfield Police today:

Fairfield Police Dept.The Fairfield Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting in the 3400 block of North Texas Street. A suspect was transported to a local trauma center and is in critical condition.

There are no outstanding suspects and no involved officers were injured.

No further information is available at this time. Updates will be released as more information becomes available.

Concord, CA – On Friday March 25, 2016 at 5:50 pm, officers responded to the 2900 block of La Salle Avenue for the report of a shooting that had just occurred. While officers were responding, family members transported the victim, an eight year old boy, to John Muir Medical Center in Concord.

Officers arrived and found the victim had suffered a single life threatening gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to Children’s Hospital in Oakland and is currently in stable condition. This shooting does not appear to be gang related.

The Concord Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to investigate the shooting. Investigation subsequently identified 32 year old Concord resident James Jarrard as the suspect. There is currently $1.1 million warrant for his arrest related to the shooting. Jarrard’s whereabouts are currently unknown and he is considered armed and dangerous. Please do not approach or attempt to detain Jarrard and immediately call 911 if he is seen.

James Jarrard is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, shaved head, green eyes. Jarrard has numerous tattoos including a large tattoo on his neck. Jarrard is currently on parole for burglary.

He shot someone in the foot earlier last week as well. You should look into that as well
