Update: Suspect Captured After Killing Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy in Hughson

A Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy was killed in the line of duty Sunday, according to the sheriff’s department Twitter Page.

According to the Sheriffs Office, the shooting occurred just before 8:30 am Sunday at Fox Grove Park in Hughson where Officer Dennis Wallace, 53, a 20-yea veteran with the Department was shot twice after investigating a suspicious vehicle and person.

It turned out the vehicle was stolen and the suspect was wanted on a felony warrant.

Suspect: David Machado

The suspect was identified as David Machado, 36, who was last seen driving a 2009 Kia Rio with a California license plate of 6JIS245–a car which he later carjacked. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Do not approach him if you see him, call 911.

According to Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson, Wallace was killed outside the car and the gun came in direct contact with his head and the trigger was pulled twice calling it an execution.

Authorities are currently conducting a man hunt for Machado.

Per Stanislaus Sheriff… they have confirmed David Machado is in custody.
