State Superintendent of Public Instruction Race Still too Close to Call

As of Monday, at 5:46 pm, Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) took the lead over Marshall Tuck to see who will become the next State Superintendent for Public Instruction.

Thurmond leads by just 3,503 votes with a total of 3,613,888 to Tuck’s 3,610,380.

On Election night, Tuck had an 86,000 vote lead over Thurmond, but over the past few updates, Thurmond was gaining votes.

As of Friday (Nov. 9), the California Secretary of State said there are an estimated 4.6 million unprocessed ballots. Another update is expected Tuesday.
