It is a very wet Thursday morning while driving to record our holiday podcast, witnessed two separate crashes between the City of Oakley and City of Antioch on Highway 4.
A flood advisory is in effect until 10:15 am this morning due to excessive rain being expected. This includes Contra Costa County along with Alameda, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Sonoma Counties.
8:56 am – 580 E/ Vasco Road
Vehicle spun out due to water in the roadway
8:36 am: SR 4 E / Lone Tree way
Two vehicle crash w/1 vehicle not drivable. Heavy vehicle damage w/airbags deployed.
7:53 am: SR4 W /Hillcrest
Two vehicle crash w/vehicle still in center divide after a vehicle hydroplaned. Another vehicle was left in lane 1 after a BMW was speeding and spun out. Vehicle was moved to Hillcrest at 8:16 am.
6:47 am: Marsh Creek Road & Russelman Park Rd
Call came in just before 7:00 am of a mudslide blocking the westbound lanes of traffic. As of 8:36 am, the mud slide is now covering the entire roadway per CHP
5:30 am: SR4 W/ SR4 W SR242 S Con
Solo spinout facing the wrong way behind the guardrail with the vehicle not drivable
3:00 am: Big Rig Crashes Closes Pleasant Hill Road in Lafeyette
In what CHP is calling a possible hit-and-run where a vehicle rear-ended a big-rig. This caused the big-rig to plunge from the freeway overpass nearly 25-ft according to CHP. No injuries and the vehicle was traveling from Oakland to Oakley. The driver of an Audi fled the scene.
1:14 am: Hit and Run at Delta Road & Byron Highway
Solo vehicle crash struck a power pole causing a power outage. Power pole being held up by wires.
