Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect in Homicide in Rodeo

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at about 5:11 PM, Bay Station Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the area of Mariposa Street between California Street and Dempsey Way in Rodeo.

Deputies arrived on scene to find a person suffering from a gunshot wound and another person who apparently suffered injuries in a fall. 

Deputies, who were assisted by local law enforcement agencies, set up a perimeter. Because of the police activity, a telephone notification went to residents in the area to shelter in place. The shooting victim was later pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. He is identified as 25-year-old Vinson Bragg of Rodeo. The other person was transported to a local hospital. 

Deputies located the suspect hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. He was taken into custody. He is identified as 23-year-old Joseph Gladney of Rodeo. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for murder and attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
