Sheriff’s Office Offers Safety Tips Ahead of Thursdays Storm

by ECT

On Wednesday, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff issued the following tips for the community ahead of a heavy storm expected to hit the Bay Area on Thursday.

Here are some tips:

  • Call 911 for emergencies only.
  • Please take extra time to get to your destination.
  • When driving during a storm, please slow down and keep more distance between vehicles.
  • Speeding and slippery roads are a dangerous combination.
  • If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights must also be.
  • Be careful of standing water, local flooding, and fallen branches and trees.
  • Never touch a downed power line. Treat them as if they are energized and dangerous.

As of 4:00 am Thursday, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of the Bay Area through 7:00 pm with 25-35 MPH winds. Currently most of the rain is in the north Bay.
