On Friday, Antioch Police responded to Costco on a report of a senior shopper who was pushed to the ground and her purse was snatched by a male who fled the scene.
The incident occurred around 2:45 pm where as the male fled, witnesses wrote down the license plate of the vehicle.
A short time later, officers found the parked vehicle in the 1600 block of Mahogany Way and made contact with the suspect. It was then determined the suspect was on probation which allowed the officers to search his residence without a warrant.
At that point, officers located the victims stolen purse in the home along with her credit cards and money.
Officers went back to Costco and recovered video which showed the crime being committed. When faced with the overwhelming evidence, the suspect ultimately confessed, and was arrested on a charge of strong-arm robbery.
The suspect was transported to county jail.

Did police ask him if he needed a new purse? Unfortunately, he will be out on the streets within a few hours to commit more crime, thanks to our DA.

That woman was left petty banged up. If that was my relative and I could get the perp before the cops got there, this would have had a different ending! I always park my car facing out so I can get out faster. COSTCO also needs to a have security vehicles drive in those huge parking lots. These are different times and the Chinese virus is NOT helping!
Women should NOT carry purses today! These are not the 1950’s or 1960’s! If you must carry one, then make it one you buy at a thrift store — falling apart — and pack it full of trash (tissues, gum wrappers, old AA battries) and rocks! Keep your money, ID and credit cards somewhere on your person Wear clothes with a lot of inside, zipped pockets. Doesn’t have to be a heavy jacket. There are many that are “summer weight”
If that was my grandmother that this asshole attacked, he would be picked up by the coroner’s vehicle.
