On the same day President Joe Biden chimed in against a recall effort for California Governor Gavin Newsom, State Senate Steve Glazer voiced his own opposition against the recall.
“In addition to sharing a commitment to a range of issues with @GavinNewsom from addressing the climate crisis to getting the pandemic under control, @POTUS clearly opposes any effort to recall @GavinNewsom,” press secretary Jen Psaki tweeted.
After the tweet, Glazer issued a statement of his own after the recall effort hit more than 1.4 million signatures and roughly $2.5 million has been raised.
Within his statement released on Twitter, Glazer called the effort “distracting and destructive fools errand”.
Here is his full statement which was 1:22 minutes long:
“This is State Senator Steve Glazer. I’ve been asked by friends for my opinion about the effort to qualify a petition to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. I’ve not spoken to the Governor or any of his advisors, but my analysis of this proposed action is simple and clear. A recall is a lawful action that should be reserved for serious malfeasance in office, corruption, deceit, dishonesty. None of these standards apply to the serve of Governor Newsom. He and his team have been working tirelessly to lead our state through this pandemic. I support many of his actions, but we also have some honest policy differences, but I believe he has acted in good faith and in the best interest of Californians at heart. He has done nothing close to justifying the recall campaign that is being waged against him. I urge my friends not to sign the recall petition. Lets stay focused on working together to stop the spread of the COVID virus to repair our safety net that has hurt so many families and business. Work together to get our children back in the classroom and to re-energize our economy. The recall is a distracting and destructive fools errand. Please don’t support it. Stay safe everyone. Thank you”.

Why all of a sudden concern about COVID? While Trump was in office Newsom did very little to get the vaccine out to the public, however, since the Biden and progressives are in control it’s a big issue. Is Newsom going to release the vaccine that were sitting around to the facilities that provide them to CA citizens?

Hey, Dick! Newsom has nothing to do with getting the vaccine out to the public. The entire project should have been coordinated by the FEDERAL government. But, of course, the Emperor whistled past the graveyard for a year and did absolutely NOTHING. Played golf and whined about everything under the sun while telling us that Covid would magically disappear. Newson can be blamed for the EDD fiasco, and some of the DMV issues, but he has tried hard to keep us all safe and informed.

I seldom agree with anything that Glazer says, but he’s right about misuse of the recall process. It was misused in the recall of Gray Davis and it’s being misused again. The remedy for a officeholder you don’t like is to vote him/her out of office at the next election – not to have constant recalls and special elections. That does not benefit governance.
Yes, how dare the people speak up and demand better leaders? We just need to sit down and let the elites, media, and celebrities run the country. They know best, and California seems to be in great shape, right? Not.
