Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) issued the following statement on the looming BART strike.
“During the last days and months, as Chair of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, I spent hours—day and night—with both labor and management. I have listened closely to both sides. For the sake of Bay Area commuters, I believe more than ever that both parties should continue to work to avoid a strike. As someone who represents a district with nine BART stations, all efforts should be made to avoid a disruption in service that would cripple the Bay Area. A strike is bad for everyone.”

Should just fire the bunch. That’s the only thing Regan did right with the Air Traffic Controllers. The Bart people are well paid and should be thankful they have a well paying job.
DeSaulnier is in the position in the State Senate to move legislation to ban strikes by all government run transit systems. The public wants it, so he can lead the way or wait for someone to start an initiative to do it.
I agree Arne, but he is such a labor man and they pay his way so I don’t think he will. We can all hope though.
Arne you should know better champ. DeSaulnier is one of many. He is a single vote. It would take both the Senate and Assembly to approve followed by a Governor. Nice try putting it all on Mark.
Desaulnier is a union puppy. He doesn’t work for the publics best interest. He works for his own. You don’t see air traffic controllers striking anymore. Desaulnier has enough puppies in his litter to make things happens, It takes someone to start the ball rolling for banning public union strikes. Everyone is talking about it. The voters are strongly for banning public union strikes that affect the safety and orderly ways of life that government is to ensure.
