On Monday, it was announced that 104.5 KFOG will be turned off for good and replaced with a simulcast of KNBR-AMR sports radio. The move is aimed at providing KNBR listeners with a stronger signal a broader broadcast range.
KFOG, currently an “alternative” channel since 2018 had been suffering from poor ratings. It also started as KBAY in 1960 before switching to rock in 1982. It then switched to triple-A in 1990’s.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 26, 2019 – Cumulus Media Inc. today announced that San Francisco alternative rock radio station 104.5/KFOG-FM will flip to a simulcast of KNBR-AM sports radio on Friday, September 6, 2019.
