The San Mateo County Sheriffs Office announced that since 2012, detectives have been investigating a case involving a suspect who sexually assaulted multiple underaged girls.
His identification was unknown until January 2021 when detectives received a break in the case from a witness who identified the suspect as 30-year-old Kaylan Freeman from the San Mateo County Coast. Freeman is responsible for multiple acts of forcible rape and various sexual assaults against the victims who were minors at that time.
On January 28, 2021, Kaylan Freeman was arrested by detectives in his residence in unincorporated San Mateo County coast side.
According to the Sheriffs Office, detectives know that Freeman used drugs to entice & lure victims in before taking advantage of them. Freeman was also known to frequent Santa Clara County and Marin County and believe there are potentially more victims in the Bay Area.

- PC 209(b)(1) –Kidnap with intent to rape
- PC 288(b)(1) –Forcible lewd acts with child under 14
- PC 288(a) –Lewd acts with a child under 14 years old
- PC 287(C)(1) –Oral copulation with child under 14
- PC 646.9(a) -Stalking
