Rio Vista Man Arrested in Connection With 2-Month-Old Son

by ECT

A Rio Vista man was arrested in connection with the death of a two-month-old baby boy.

On the evening of January 18th, the Rio Vista Police Department (RVPD) received a call for service involving an infant with suspicious injuries that had been brought to Kaiser Antioch. RVPD began an investigation immediately requesting the assistance of detectives from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after arriving at Kaiser Antioch, the infant was transported via ambulance to Oakland Children’s Hospital. Sheriff’s detectives responded to both hospitals and were notified that the infant had died from his injuries. Detectives continued their interviews and evidence collection at both hospitals. A search warrant was authored and executed for a home on 4th Street in Rio Vista where it’s believed the infant suffered the life-ending injuries. Sheriff’s detectives and CSI processed the scene and collected evidence.

During the following days, more interviews were conducted, camera footage was reviewed, evidence was processed, an autopsy was conducted, and behavioral experts were consulted. The investigation led to an arrest warrant issued by a Solano County Judge for the infant’s father, 23-year-old Tre Kenneth Clay of Rio Vista.

On January 23rd, detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET) met with Clay at his home and arrested him without incident on the Solano County arrest warrant for violation of 273ab(a) P.C. (child abuse resulting in death) and 187P.C. (the unlawful killing of a human being). Clay is being held at the Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility without bail.

This story is heartbreaking but the headline makes no sense and I’m surprised it has remained on the site all day. Firstly, the child involved is stated to be a two month old infant, not a two year old. And “arrested in connection with”? What does that even mean?
