Rep. McNerney Response to Government Shutdown

by ECT

Washington, DC – As Congress has failed to reach a compromise to continue funding the federal government, sending the government into a shutdown, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) issued the following statement:

“I’m here in Washington, working with my colleagues to find a compromise to end this government shutdown. While we continue to work towards a solution, my offices will remain open during regular business hours. Many federal services will also continue to operate as usual. Mail will still be delivered and VA hospitals and clinics will remain fully operational. Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security benefits will be received by current recipients, though new applications will stall.

“I’m committed to ensuring that our federal employees can get back on the job, and that they and our military service members receive their pay. At the same time, we also need to make sure that the agreement we reach does not shortchange our Community Health Centers or come at the expense of the more than 800,000 people who face deportation and being torn away from their homes and families.

“We currently find ourselves at an impasse, but this inability to compromise hurts the American people, inhibits our ability to govern, and undermines American credibility in the eyes of the rest of the world.

“There have been several bipartisan compromises advanced by congressional leaders that have the potential to move us forward. Now is the time to come together to get our country back on track and to show that we can govern the way the American people deserve.”

Jerry, YOU and your fellow Dems are the problem, not the solution.

Stop mislabeling key facts.

Undocumented is just spin for Illegal immigrants.

DACA is just spin for Illegal immigrants.

Dreamers is just spin for Illegal Immigrants.

So Jerry what part of Illegal do you not comprehend? What part of protecting and representing legal Americans do you not understand? If you don’t get the BASIC concept, them YOU are unfit for office.

Just what are you previous posters afraid of? Possibly that the DACA kids will be more educated than your own kids and grandkids? That these hard-working kids will be the future of California? That brown skinned people will be the majority in this state? That your whiteness will lose something valuable to you? These Immigrants are looking for a better life and not taking anything but space from you. They are not taking your benefits, jobs, or anything else. Stop being so afraid! Why can’t Jerry be working for all people here in California? Too bad the Republican party can’t work for all their constituents, not just the conservatives.

Wrong, White lady! There are more than 800,000 DACA people (not all are kids). There are at least 3.8 million people who came here with their parents as kids. Not all have DACA status! Aren’t you aware of that? So what if they are looking for a better life? They should return to their country of origin and work to change their governments to ensure a better future! If DACAs are allowed to stay, they will be competing for jobs with our AMERICAN population…….. our future children and grandchildren! With so much automation and improve technology in the near future, there will be fewer and fewer jobs available! Those jobs should go to AMERICANS, not foreigners. Our politicians should look after us first and not illegals!
