The number of homeless increased by 627 individuals compared to the 2017 count.

The City of Antioch had the most homeless in the County with 350 followed by Richmond (270) and Concord (252). In East Contra Costa, Pittsburg had 110 homeless followed by Bay Point (61), Oakley (49), Brentwood (35), Bethel Island (7) and Discovery Day (1).

In total, the county had 2,234 persons experiencing homelessness with 1,537 being unsheltered and 697 in shelters.

Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) conduced its annual count of homeless county residents at the end of January. CCHS’s Division of Health, Housing and Homeless Services (H3), its community partners and volunteers will document both sheltered and unsheltered people in the area who need permanent housing.

Data from this effort help government, service providers and community advocates develop effective responses to the challenges facing local people who are experiencing homelessness.

Antioch needs a no camping law. Alamo, Walnut Creek, Danville have 0 homeless? The county doesn’t what homelessness around the rich people! Do you ever wonder why Antioch’s crime is so high?

Walnut Creek has homeless. The graph says Clayton has none. I call BS. I see many everyday in Clayton.

I wonder how much section eight money is flowing through Antioch compared to other east bay cities?

What does Section 8 have to do with the homeless? Section 8 is for housing, and homeless people lack housing.

Like Antioch doesn’t have enough problems. Highest number of homeless too. Every city has homeless people. Not all of them are counted.

I think these numbers are low for all citys and yes all of the county has homeless. Even Lafayette and Orinda.

I do not know where I heard this saying “Homelessness is not a crime” but it is the answer to why crime caused by the homeless will continue to be a problem for all of us at least some day. Here is another beautiful excuse for forgiveness “that is why you buy insurance”.

“Homelessness is not a crime” is promoted by police departments. I read an article that it’s part of their training.

I heard it from Antioch Police. Unfortunately, all their activities are crimes.

Put them all in an arena and let them fight. Last one standing gets a 7-11 hot dog, big gulp and a bag of crack.
