Pleasanton Police Report Two Shot While Driving

The Pleasanton Police Department is reporting that at 11:08 pm on January 2, officers responded to calls of several gunshots hear in the area of Stoneridge Drive and Gilbralter Drive in the City of Pleasanton.

As officers responded, California Highway Patrol was contacted by two victims who were pulled over on eastbound I-580 at Hacienda Drive. They had reported they had been shot and needed medical attention.  A total of three people were in the vehicle with two sustaining non-life-threatening gunshot wounds with several bullets which had struck the vehicle.

According to police, the victims reported they exited the freeway and were driving westbound on Stoneridge Drive when at least one occupant of another vehicle began shooting at then. They say this is believed to be a targeted shooting and not a random act of violence. The victims are an 18-year-old male from Oakland and an 18-year-old female from Richmond.

Police were not releasing their identities at this time as the investigation is active and ongoing.
