Pleasant Hill Police Arrest Man After Explosive Device and Materials Found

The Pleasant Hill Police Department announced the arrest of a 27-year-old male who was in possession of bomb making materials and/or explosive devices.

According to police, Pleasant Hill Police Department Detectives along with the Clayton Police Department were actively investigating a series of vandalisms, which occurred in both jurisdictions. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, (27 year old male Pleasant Hill resident). During that vandalism investigation, Pleasant Hill PD Detectives uncovered evidence that showed the suspect was in possession of bomb making materials and/or explosive devices.

On 03/18/2022 at about 3pm, Pleasant Hill PD Detectives along with the Walnut Creek Police Department Bomb Squad and Clayton PD, executed a search warrant on the 300 block of Longbrook Way. Explosive materials and an explosive device were located at the location. Numerous residents were evacuated.

Contra Costa County Hazmat along with ConFire Hazmat and the FBI responded to assist with the investigation. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into County Jail. The scene was made safe and the evacuation order was lifted.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
