The Pittsburg Police Department announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man who broke into a Chevron Gas Station Saturday morning.

According to Pittsburg Police, at 2:20 am early Saturday, they received a report of a man banging on the windows and locked front doors of the Chevron Gas Station at 1235 California Ave. Officers responded, but before they arrived the man, 22-year-old Jose Plascensia, had forced his way in through the locked door.

Once inside, Plascensia destroyed merchandise and tossed food racks on the floor. One of those falling racks struck a clerk.

Pittsburg officers arrived to witness Plascensia destroying property inside the store just before he came outside where he was confronted. Despite numerous orders to get down on the ground, he failed to comply. It took the effort of several officers and a K-9 to make the arrest.

Plascensia was treated a John Muir Hospital for a dog bite and other injures sustained during the incident. Plascensia was booked at the Martinez County Jail on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, assault on a peace officer and vandalism.
