The Pittsburg Police Department is reporting that on Wednesday night at approximately 11:00 pm, officers responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and California Avenue.
According to police, as officers arrived on the scene they found all parties involved with injuries that required medical personnel to respond. Fire personnel assisted in removing one of the men from a vehicle by cutting the driver’s door off the car.
All parties were transport to area hospitals for additional medical treatment.
Two of the men were later treated and release for minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle remains in the hospital due to significant injuries and is currently being treated in the ICU, listed as critical condition.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the Pittsburg Police Department Fatal Accident Response Team and members of the Traffic Division took over the investigation.
During the investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles displayed signs of intoxication and being under the influence of alcohol. After receiving medical treatment for minor injuries, this man was later arrested and transport to the Martinez Detention Facility.
The Intersection of Railroad Avenue and California Avenue remained closed for several hours and was reopened just prior to 6:00 AM this Thursday morning.
