The Pittsburg Police announced the arrest of two suspects today in a May 11 murder on Highway 4 and are seeking two additional suspects.
On May 11th, 2016 just before 11:00 AM, Pittsburg officers responded to a report of a rollover collision on WB Highway 4 near the Railroad Avenue overpass. Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle that had rolled over after colliding into the embankment of WB Highway 4.
There were two occupants in the vehicle both suffering from gunshot wounds (Female driver located partially ejected from the vehicle – Male passenger found standing outside of the vehicle). The female was suffering from head trauma and a gunshot wound to the rear torso and the male had a gunshot wound to his left hand. Both victims were transported to the hospital, the female later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and the male was treated and released for his injuries.
It was determined during our investigation the victims were followed by four suspects and shot on Highway 4 within the city limits of Pittsburg. The shooting was as a result of an ongoing gang related dispute with subjects from the San Francisco area.
Over the past 7-months investigators have conducted an extensive investigation and contacted individuals that were less than cooperative at times. Their hard work, determination and diligent efforts led to identifying four suspects in this case all of whom have gang associations in San Francisco area. Investigators presented this case to the District Attorney’s Office earlier this week and murder charges with enhancements were filed on all four suspects with arrest warrants being issued.
Earlier today, investigators received information that at least two of the suspects were at residence in the City of Antioch, 1900 block of Johnson Drive. Our investigators began surveillance at the location and two of the suspects were arrested this afternoon as they left the residence.
A third suspect was believed to be inside and the residence was searched by PPD SWAT per a search warrant. The suspect was not located and at this time two of the four suspects are in custody for murder charges for their involvement in this incident.
The Pittsburg Police Department is still looking for Damario Pitteard and Corey McCroey, both of whom have outstanding murder warrants for their arrests.
Anyone with information to their whereabouts should contact the Pittsburg Police Department at (925) 646-2441, Gaines and Carter are in custody on their warrants.
More information will be released when available.
