Some Halloween Pet Tips via Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation:

  1. If you’re throwing a Halloween party this year, put your pets somewhere quiet and safe. Costumes and masks can change how people look and smell, making even loved ones potentially scary to your furry companions.
  2. Trick-or-Treaters coming to your house means lots of opening and closing your front door. Make sure pets are secured before opening. Just to be safe, update their tags and microchip info ahead of time in case they manage to get out
  3. Candy may be delicious for humans, but poisonous for our four-legged friends. Keep candy bowls somewhere out of pets reach. A trip to the emergency vet would certainly put a damper on Halloween.
  4. Not every animal loves dressing up for Halloween. Keep an eye out for costumes that obscure vision or might trip them up. If your pet appears uncomfortable, take the costume off for the night.
