Nominations Sought for People Who Combat Alcohol & Drug Abuse

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board of Contra Costa County is seeking nominations for the 2013 “People Who Make a Difference” Awards, which recognizes individuals and groups who have contributed significantly toward combating alcohol and other drug abuse in Contra Costa communities. Nomination forms are due April 5.

Nominees must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Identified an alcohol and other drug problem and initiated effective change
  • Contributed to reducing the impact of alcohol and other drugs in Contra Costa communities
  • Produced a significant shift in community alcohol and other drugs awareness

There are six award categories for 2013: Volunteer Individual, Volunteer Group, Non-Volunteer Individual, Non-Volunteer Group, Youth Leadership Individual and Youth Leadership Group. Past winners are not eligible for nomination.

The Board of Supervisors will acknowledge winners on Tuesday, May 14 during its regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. at 651 Pine Street in Martinez. A reception will follow.
