National Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Warning for East Bay

by ECT

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for East Bay Interior Valleys which is an upgrade from their previous warning on Friday.

The warning is in effect from 11:00 am Sunday until 9:00 pm Monday which was upgraded from an “advisory” to a “warning”.

Temperatures are expected to reach 98 degrees to as high as 108 degrees on Sunday and Monday with lows in the 60’s.

During the time of the warning, prolonged exposure to these temperatures will increase the risk of heat related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations. Pets and livestock may also require extra care through the warm weather.  There is also an elevated risk of wildfire.

To prevent situations where heat related illnesses are likely, you are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air conditioned rooms while staying out of the sun. You are also encouraged to check on relatives and neighbors.
