by ECT

The National Weather Service said Tuesday that they expect cold temperatures overnight as well as Wednesday night into Thursday for many inland valleys.  This will impact those most vulnerable, pets and agriculture.

In Costa Costa County, cities named in the announcement include Antioch, Concord, Pittsburg, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek.

They say a cold, dry air mass advanced in by the recent windstorm will bring overnight lows into the 30’s throughout the inland valley’s of the San Francisco Bay Area. The overnight cold spells could last into the weekend with the coldest night being Wednesday.

  • NORTH BAY VALLEYS… UPPER 20S (LOCALLY) TO MID 30S
  • EAST BAY VALLEYS… MID 30S (LOCALLY) TO LOW 40S
  • SOUTH BAY VALLEYS… LOW 30S (LOCALLY) TO AROUND 40
  • SALINAS VALLEY… UPPER 20S (LOCALLY) TO AROUND 40

Vulnerable populations without access to heat or proper shelter are at the highest risk of the cold. This includes those who have been recently impacted by the wildfires across the region who may have been forced to evacuate their homes.

They encourage people impacted to seek out access to warming shelters on cold nights and to check with both city and county officials/agencies for more information.
