NAACP Provides Meals to Tri Delta Transit Workers to say “Thank You” for Working Through Pandemic

by ECT

On Thursday, the East County NAACP served more than a 100 meals to workers at Tri Delta Transit as a way to say thank you for working through the COVID-19 Pandemic.

While many have focused on the medical field and first responders, the NAACP wanted to thank other workers who continued to show up each day to serve the community.

Members of the NAACP provided meals for both lunch and dinner for workers at the Antioch location on different shifts which included African American Soul Food — fresh green salad, fried chicken and fried catfish, collard greens, sweet potatoes, yams, lemonade and water.

“We did this to say thank you to our front-line workers because we know that some of them must work, some of them do not have to work and they are choosing to work, but we know they are trying to provide service to our community in spite of the challenges that they face with this covid-19 virus,” explained Victoria Adams, President of the East County NAACP. “Now only the risk to themselves, but their families. For that we just want to say thank you and we appreciate you.”

Jeanne Krieg, executive director at Tri Delta Transit, was thankful for the NAACP offering to say thank you by providing meals.

“The bus drivers and mechanics are on the front line every day providing an important service to the community. They make sure essential workers get to their jobs. They also take our neighbors to essential services such as medical appointments and grocery stores. It’s easy to overlook these unsung heroes so the gesture of providing the delicious lunch and dinner lifted spirits and gave all employees an unexpected and sincerely appreciated recognition. Thank you NAACP,” said Krieg.

This is the second event where the East County NAACP has has provided meals to members of the community. Several weeks ago, they provided approximately 30 meals to workers at Grocery Outlet in Pittsburg as a way to say thank you.

The NAACP East County Branch serves: Alamo, Antioch, Bay Point, Brentwood, Concord, Danville, Discovery Bay, Oakley, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek. For more information, visit them at: www.eastcountynaacp.com

Yea they only did this because a lot ( or most) of the employees there are black. The naacp is a racist organization it’s self . Being a racist seems to be only caring about one race the most…. hints the naacp. Everyone wants to say whites are racist just take a look at the naacp ….. I don’t care you can comment and disagree all you want but if you think about it …. it’s the truth.

Giving away free food to bus drivers is what’s getting those white hooded panties up in a bunch? You clearly demonstrate that the rednecks of America simply don’t like any behavior from non-whites that falls outside of licking boots. You should be ashamed of yourself. The NAACP does a lot to help out many Americans, especially during times like these as our country descends further into the bright White light of tyranny.

BigC, Giving free food away to bus drivers is what’s getting your white hooded panties up in a bunch? You only prove that the rednecks of the East Bay can’t tolerate any behavior from people of color outside of submitting to your boot licking colonialist ideology. You should be ashamed of your anti-American prejudices.
