Mt. Diablo Unified Board Praises Performance/Extends contract for Superintendent Nellie Meyer

by ECT

CONCORD, CA – The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education has completed Superintendent Nellie Meyer’s annual evaluation, noting that Dr. Meyer exceeded expectations, and extending her contract for a third time.

The evaluation was approved at the August 8 board meeting, where Board President Cheryl Hansen described how “extremely pleased” the Board is with the superintendent’s performance.

“Dr. Meyer has been a spectacular addition to the District, and she continues to serve us well and with positive leadership,” said Hansen. “We appreciate all of the work she has done in terms of collaboration, of bringing the community together with the District, building relationships, focusing on student achievement, and supporting the school sites.”

Based on the evaluation, Dr. Meyer’s contract, originally effective from August 2013 through June 30, 2016, was extended for the third time and is now amended to extend through June 30, 2020.

“The extended contract is recognition of the work that has been done,” said Brian Lawrence, MDUSD Board Member.  “She squarely started the turnaround of Mt. Diablo, and has put together an amazing team of administrators.”

“We are very hopeful for the future,” he added.

Dr. Meyer’s current annual base salary is $255,000, dating back to July 1, 2015.

255k a year and we wonder why our system is so screwed up? That’s not even counting benefits!!!

School curriculum is antiquated and kids graduate not knowing the simplest things in navigating adulthood. They are taught to pass tests only to make the schools and district look good on paper.
And for that we are paying admin 255k plus benefits? We are so foolish and sooooo gullible.
