At 10:00 pm Thursday, Martinez Police Department Officers responded to the 800 block of Howe Rd. for a report of a vehicle collision. Officers arrived and located a 37-year-old male subject trapped in a passenger car which had collided with a parked commercial vehicle.
The victim was unresponsive and had to be extricated from the vehicle by responding Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire personnel.
The male subject was transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center Martinez, where he was pronounced deceased. No other victims were located and investigation indicated the victim was the sole occupant of the car at the time of the collision.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages and the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
