Martinez Man Arrested For Assault With A Deadly Weapon

The Martinez Police Department announced the arrest of a 23-year-old Martinez man after a gunshot was fired in the 600 block of Warren Street in the City of Martinez.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 4:50 pm where dispatch was advised of a subject who had just shot at another individual during an argument inside a residence.

Officers were given a description of the suspect and were advised the suspect had fled on foot towards Susana Street Park. Officers arrived in the area almost immediately and located the suspect on Susana Street.

The suspect, identified as Javier Ramirez, 23 years old of Martinez, was arrested without incident. The firearm believed to be used by Ramirez was located on the ground near where the first responding officer initially saw him.

Ramirez was booked into MDF on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, as well as a warrant previously issued for his arrest.

The victim was not injured during this incident.
