Martinez: 75-Year-old Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle

On Monday at 8:47 pm, Martinez Police Officers responded to an auto vs. pedestrian accident on Berrellesa St. at Green St in the City of Martinez.

Officers arrived and located an approx. 75 year old male subject laying in the roadway.  Officers began life saving measures and the subject was transported to John Muir Hospital for further treatment.  The subject was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

His identity is being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notification.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.  Drugs/alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time.

Why are so many people being hit by cars? Wasn’t a woman killed that way in Concord last week? Now, it’s Martinez? What was this driver’s excuse? Speed? Lack of attention?
