March 7: Brentwood Farmers Market Set to Return

by ECT

The Grand Opening of the Brentwood Farmers’ Market on Saturday, March 7, 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St. There will be music by Nova, a ribbon cutting ceremony with local officials at 10am, JoJo the Clown and kids’ activities, and a lot more. And new this year – we have expanded around the corner onto Oak St. so check it out. See you there as we enjoy another fresh season!

The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.

ASPARAGUS SEASON HAS ARRIVED!
The green spears of spring are here. Over 65% of the asparagus grown commercially in the U.S. is grown in the Sacramento River Delta. While the harvest season lasts only a short time in this northern production area, California’s wide range of micro-climates allows for asparagus to grow from February through May.

Asparagus growers are somewhat concerned about the drought – last year’s crop was not as good as in previous years. But growers are not as concerned with the drought as they are with the increase in cheaper imported asparagus from Mexico. So be sure to purchase California-grown asparagus. As we say, “Buy Fresh, Buy Local.”
